What Granola verifiably does

Granola documents live transcription on macOS, Windows, and iPhone, AI-enhanced notes, chat across meetings, templates, shared folders, and paid integrations. Notes are private unless a user shares them. The desktop app does not retain meeting audio; transcripts and notes remain subject to the selected retention and sharing controls.

Where it is strongest

The product fits founders, consultants, recruiters, and customer-facing teams who attend enough calls to benefit from a searchable meeting record. The ability to keep rough human notes in the loop is useful because the generated output begins with what the participant considered important instead of treating a transcript as the entire meaning of the meeting.

Important limitations

A bot-free interface does not remove consent obligations. Granola recommends informing participants, and its automatic consent message has platform limitations. Desktop transcription does not currently provide full speaker diarization, notes can still omit or misstate decisions, and data is stored in the United States.
