How this review was researched
This is a research-based review of official public documentation checked October 10, 2026. We have not run the product, audited its security or measured output quality. Vendor submissions identify the product and claimed workflow; they are not independent evidence. Numerical ratings are withheld. The exercise below is a proposed buyer test, not reported results.
Documented workflow and audience
The tool page describes selecting one photo, adjusting blur strength, comparing before and after and exporting a static image. Basic runs locally without sign-in or automatic upload. AI Refined requires sign-in, explicit confirmation and ten credits. Difficult hair, glass and low-contrast edges still require inspection.
Our editorial fit assessment: creators and small businesses editing individual portraits or product photos. Avoid choosing it for video blur, guaranteed optical realism or using blur as redaction.
Pricing and free-access limits
Checked October 10, 2026. The credit page lists one-time packs: $2.99 for 100 credits/ten successful tasks, $6.99 for 300/thirty and $12.99 for 600/sixty. There is no subscription or auto-renewal on these packs. Anonymous Basic access lists 20 local attempts per 24 hours, signed-in free access 30 and pack buyers 100 per rolling 24 hours. Published failed-task credit restoration applies to eligible failures; an unattractive completed result is not necessarily a technical failure.
Limits and data questions
The privacy policy says AI Refined uploads the source to private storage and supplies a signed link to Fal for subject masking. Final compositing runs in the browser, then the result is uploaded. Published access windows are up to 24 hours for the source and 30 days for delivered results; provider rules and longer-lived operational records are separate. These are vendor policies, not our audit results.
Proposed buyer test
Use six photos you have permission to edit: a clean portrait, curly hair, a pet, a glass product, a low-contrast subject and two overlapping people. Keep originals and set the same intended blur strength. Review at normal display size and at the edges: hair strands, handles, transparent surfaces and gaps between arms. Compare Basic with your existing editor before buying an AI pack. If you try Refined, record which images actually improve and any paid results you reject. Include upload, download and review time. Inspect the exported file rather than judging only the interactive preview. Do not upload private material merely to compare the modes.
Pros and tradeoffs
Potential strengths: local basic offers a low-commitment first step; one-time paid packs; before-and-after control for individual photos. Tradeoffs: ai refined uses cloud processing; complex subject edges can need correction; focused on static images. These describe workflow considerations, not measured performance scores.
Alternatives and decision
This narrow workflow may be enough for a profile photo or a simple product post. Use a fuller editor if the task requires manual masks or repeated corrections. Blur should be treated as a visual effect: if a name, address or document must be hidden, remove or securely redact it rather than relying on softness.
