Short answer

AI Grammatic is a candidate for Mac users who repeatedly polish short messages in a second language. Try it on ordinary, non-sensitive sentences first. Choose a paid plan only after checking both your writing volume and who receives the selected text.

Evidence and review scope

This review follows submission #305. The official homepage was checked October 25, 2026; its separate pricing and privacy-explanation pages could not be retrieved. Prices and routing below are therefore homepage statements, not an independent security audit. We have not installed or tested the app. Ratings are withheld and no affiliate link is used.

How the workflow is described

The vendor documents a system-wide shortcut that replaces selected text, casual and formal tones, translation, and undo. It requires macOS 14 or later and Accessibility permission. We have not verified compatibility with individual apps. Test the applications you use rather than assuming a system-wide feature works identically in every editor.

Free, Premium and Pro have different costs

The homepage lists Free at ten rewrites daily with no account. Premium is $7.99/month or $69/year and includes managed AI with a 50,000-word daily allowance. Pro is $3.29/month or $29/year, with a separately billed provider API key. Annual amounts are upfront term prices, not monthly charges.

Pro's app subscription does not include inference. Compare the full cost with Premium using your actual writing volume. A cheaper app fee can be the wrong choice if managing keys or reconciling provider usage becomes another administrative task.

Privacy depends on the selected plan

The homepage says Free and Premium route text through the vendor's server to an AI provider; Pro sends it directly to the user's provider account. These are vendor descriptions. Direct provider routing still involves remote processing and the provider's own terms. Ask for written clarification if work policies require specific retention or regional handling.

A proposed meaning-preservation test

Prepare ten fictional messages covering a deadline, a price, a refusal, a tentative proposal and a request for help. Put the original wording and intended meaning in separate columns before asking for a rewrite. Include one sentence with a deliberate ambiguity so you can see whether the tool asks for clarification or silently chooses a meaning.

Review every change to numbers, dates, links, names and commitments. A smoother sentence fails the test if “might deliver” becomes “will deliver.” Keep a separate count for stylistic preferences: they matter, but they should not hide a factual change.

Repeat the exercise in the apps where you write. Verify undo, focus behavior and what happens when a shortcut conflicts with another app. Use short selections first so an unexpected replacement is easy to spot. Never test by sending an unreviewed message to a customer.

When paying makes sense

Stay free if ten rewrites cover an ordinary day. Consider managed AI when convenience is the main need; consider Pro when you already operate an approved provider account and understand its billing. Avoid choosing solely on the word “unlimited,” because provider usage remains a separate constraint.

Compare the AI Grammatic profile with the writing tools in the Tool Finder. Our meaning-preserving rewrite checklist gives you a reusable review method. The test above is editorial guidance, not a measured performance result.

0/7 checks complete
  1. Confirm the tool meets every must-have workflow and stakeholder requirement.

Review starting point: Mac users evaluating short-message rewriting with explicit review of meaning and data routing.

  2. Run the same representative work you would use in production; do not score a polished demo.

Review starting point: Run a bounded set of representative tasks with known acceptable outcomes, then compare the result with your current workflow.

  3. Calculate the effective cost per accepted result, including usage, review, corrections, and required add-ons.

Review starting point: Homepage lists Free: 10 rewrites/day; Premium $7.99/month or $69/year; Pro $3.29/month or $29/year plus separate API usage. Dedicated pricing page unavailable; confirm checkout.

  4. Define an acceptance threshold, test known answers and edge cases, and record every correction.

Review starting point: Editorial quality signals: features 0.0/5. Validate these signals in your own work.

  5. Verify what data enters the product, who can access it, how long it is retained, and whether it trains models.

Review starting point: Use approved low-risk data first. Check roles, consent, deletion, subprocessors, model-training settings, and the contract—not only the marketing page.

  6. Test the real handoffs, permissions, failure states, and export path your team depends on.

Review starting point: AI Grammatic integration requirements are not fully structured in this review; list every required system and test each connection.

  7. Record training, governance, reliability, accessibility, ownership, and change-management risks before rollout.

Review starting point: Mac only in checked documentation; Pro adds separately billed API usage; Dedicated policy and pricing pages unavailable
