Close CRM Review 2026: Is It Worth It for Sales Teams?
Close puts sales conversations and pipeline work in one system, but layered usage costs, channel governance, and CRM fit need a real pilot.

Important limits
- • DiscoverAI did not complete a long-term paid deployment or independently validate uptime, support, email delivery, carrier behavior, call quality, recordings, reporting accuracy, security controls, migration, Chloe performance, conversion claims, or billing accuracy.
- • The included Chloe image and PDFs are vendor-provided promotional materials, not independently captured product evidence. Customer testimonials and performance language in those materials are not treated as independent results.
- • Plans, annual discounts, AI credits, telephony rates, number availability, add-ons, limits, supported countries, AI behavior, integrations, policies, and contract terms can change; verify first-party materials and checkout.

Short answer
Close is a conversation-first sales CRM for teams that want calling, email, SMS, lead management, pipeline, workflows, and reporting in one workspace. Its newest differentiator is Chloe, a native AI teammate that can query CRM context and place outbound qualification calls.
Our verdict is a qualified recommendation for inside-sales teams after a controlled pilot. Close can replace several sales tools, but the $9 annual Solo headline is not a realistic total-cost estimate for every team. Seats, plan tier, phone numbers, telephony, AI credits, add-ons, migration work, and governance all matter.
Close at a glance
| Question | Answer |
| --- | --- |
| Best for | Small and midsize inside-sales teams with frequent calls and follow-up |
| Main products | Sales CRM, calling, email, SMS, Workflows, reporting, and Chloe |
| Entry price | $9/user/month annually or $19 monthly for Solo |
| Free access | 14-day trial; no permanent free plan advertised |
| Main strength | Communication and pipeline context live in one sales-focused system |
| Main limitation | Complete cost and governance are more complex than the seat price |
| Review basis | First-party research plus vendor-provided Chloe materials; no long-term deployment |
What Close actually does
Close organizes companies as Leads, people as Contacts, and deals as Opportunities. Representatives can call, email, text, schedule meetings, manage tasks, and move opportunities without leaving the CRM. Smart Views provide dynamic work queues, while Workflows can react to lead, contact, opportunity, call, meeting, form, or custom-activity events.
That design is most valuable when conversations are the sales process. It is less compelling if the buyer primarily needs marketing automation, customer support, commerce, complex enterprise territory management, or an extensible application platform. Consolidation is useful only when Close covers the surrounding workflow well enough to retire other systems.
Calling, email, SMS, and workflows
Close's native dialer automatically logs calls to the lead record. Higher plans add Power Dialer or Predictive Dialer capabilities, coaching, and stronger retention or access controls. Email sync, templates, bulk messages, scheduled sends, inbox work, and AI assistance keep correspondence beside calls and pipeline history. SMS can be manual or a Workflow step.
Workflows are available on Growth and Scale. They can send email or SMS, create call tasks, update records, assign work, create opportunities, wait, and stop on goals such as a reply or booked meeting. Communication windows and blackout calendars help with timing, but they do not replace lawful consent, suppression, frequency limits, or channel-specific review.
Calling and SMS are usage-priced. Phone-number rental, registration requirements, carrier behavior, deliverability, recording law, and country coverage can change the result. Test the exact destinations and message types your team uses rather than assuming one successful US demo represents the full territory.
Chloe: useful native context, serious governance
Chloe combines an in-CRM chat assistant with outbound Voice Agents. Close says Voice Agents can qualify leads, answer approved questions, book meetings, update fields, and return transcripts, summaries, and outcomes to the lead record. A configured agent can also transfer a live call to a representative.
The supplied creative below shows Chloe calling a lead and presenting a sample qualification transcript. It is vendor promotional material—not an independent call recording, interface capture, or conversion test. The accompanying vendor PDFs emphasize rapid inbound response, re-engagement, qualification, booking, and CRM logging; those are positioning claims to test, not guaranteed outcomes.
Close currently documents important limits: Voice Agents are outbound only, English only, and call US or Canadian numbers. Chloe must disclose that it is AI and that the call is recorded; customers remain responsible for consent and compliance. Buyers should review scripts, knowledge sources, edge cases, objections, transfers, field writes, appointment rules, suppression, and representative samples of real calls.
Do not judge the system only by natural-sounding audio. Measure whether it identifies the right person, represents the business accurately, handles uncertainty, stops when asked, avoids sensitive inferences, records the correct outcome, books an appropriate meeting, and hands a usable summary to a human.
Close pricing and total cost
Close currently lists Solo at $19 per user/month ($9 billed annually), Essentials at $49 ($35 annually), Growth at $109 ($99 annually), and Scale at $149 ($139 annually). Plans include 500, 1,000, 1,500, or 2,000 monthly AI credits per user, subject to account caps. Calling, SMS, phone numbers, AI-credit overages, Call Assistant, and extra organizations can add separate charges. Verified September 17, 2026.
Annual prices are materially lower, but an annual discount should follow—not substitute for—a representative pilot. Workflows begin on Growth, and Scale adds controls such as role-based permissions, visibility rules, Predictive Dialer, unlimited call-recording retention, and live coaching.
AI credits are pooled at the account level, reset monthly, and do not roll over. Chloe Voice Agents use credits and telephony simultaneously. Close publishes additional credit subscriptions, but it also says there is no global credit cap or per-Voice-Agent limit. Operational controls therefore matter: deactivate unused agents, limit Workflow enrollment and batch calls, export usage, monitor warnings, and assign a budget owner.
Calculate total cost per qualified, attended, accepted opportunity—not just per user or per call. Include migration, data cleanup, administration, phone numbers, telephony, SMS registration, AI credits, add-ons, failed outreach, rep review, and any tools Close does not replace.
Reporting, integrations, and data access
Close provides activity, pipeline, opportunity, and team reporting. Before buying, reproduce the weekly forecast, conversion analysis, response-time metric, activity view, attribution question, and manager coaching workflow the team actually uses. A report that exists is not necessarily a report that matches your definitions.
Native connections and automation platforms cover common tools, while the API and event log support custom work. Close's help center warns that API keys can read and modify all CRM data and that third-party OAuth connections receive broad access based on the connecting user's role rather than selectable fine-grained scopes. Use a least-privileged user where possible, inventory integrations, protect keys, test revocation, and review vendor subprocessors.
Privacy, security, deliverability, and compliance
CRM data can contain contact details, communications, recordings, transcripts, commercial history, and inferred intent. Complete a data-processing and security review for the chosen features, regions, integrations, retention settings, mobile access, exports, and AI processing—not merely the base CRM.
Automated email, SMS, and AI voice outreach can trigger different consent, identification, opt-out, quiet-hour, do-not-call, recording, and data-protection duties by jurisdiction. Close provides controls and disclosures, but the customer selects the audience, purpose, cadence, script, knowledge, and legal basis. Consult qualified counsel for the actual markets; this review is not legal advice.
Protect email reputation with authenticated sending domains, clean data, gradual volume, bounce monitoring, suppression, and reply-aware stops. For calling, test caller ID, number registration, spam labeling, transfer behavior, and recordings. For AI, restrict knowledge to approved facts and require human ownership of ambiguous, sensitive, or high-value cases.
A fair 14-day buyer test
Run a 14-day pilot with a clean, consented lead segment and the exact channels your team will use. Measure time to first response, connect and reply rates, qualified meetings, no-shows, rep follow-up time, workflow errors, email delivery, opt-outs, call quality, transcription accuracy, Chloe escalations, AI credits, telephony, and total cost per accepted opportunity. Review every AI script and a representative call sample, test suppression and stop rules, reconcile CRM writes, and compare the result with your existing process before migrating more data.
Use a holdout group or the previous process for comparison. Define success before launch: for example, faster lawful response without a decline in qualification quality, show rate, complaint rate, or data accuracy. Separate vendor-reported outcomes from your own funnel economics.
Pass only if representatives actually work from Close, managers can trust the pipeline, prospects receive appropriate communication, administrators can bound usage, and the complete cost is better than the stack it replaces.
Pros and cons
Pros
- Calling, email, SMS, pipeline, tasks, and automation share one customer record
- Sales-focused interface can be easier to adopt than a broad general-purpose suite
- Smart Views and Workflows support repeatable rep queues and follow-up
- Chloe uses CRM context and returns outcomes without a separate integration
- API, mobile apps, reporting, and common integrations support a wider sales stack
Cons
- Telephony, phone numbers, AI credits, and add-ons complicate total cost
- Workflows require Growth or Scale
- Chloe Voice Agents have current language and geographic limits
- Integration OAuth permissions are broad rather than finely scoped
- Marketing, service, and broader operational needs may require other platforms
- Automated outreach still requires consent, suppression, deliverability, and human governance
Close alternatives
HubSpot is the more natural comparison when a team wants marketing, sales, service, content, and operations around one customer platform. Reply.io and AiSDR are stronger comparisons when the main job is outbound sequencing or AI-led prospecting rather than replacing the CRM itself. Pipedrive, Salesforce, Zoho CRM, Freshsales, and HighLevel may also belong in the test depending on complexity, channel mix, ecosystem, and budget.
Compare the same lead segment and measure the same business outcomes. A tool with more features can still be worse if representatives avoid it; a streamlined CRM can still be worse if it forces too many critical jobs into brittle integrations.
Final verdict
Close earns a qualified recommendation for inside-sales teams whose daily work is dominated by calling, emailing, texting, qualifying, and moving opportunities. Its strongest argument is operational focus: the conversation and the CRM record are meant to be the same workflow.
The buying case depends on real adoption and full economics. Test Chloe as an accountable channel rather than a novelty, govern every automated touch, validate deliverability and data writes, and price the entire system. If Close reduces tool switching while improving lawful response, rep follow-through, and accepted pipeline at a defensible cost, it belongs on the shortlist.
